Biography

A Wildlife Conservationist working closely with Communities, Policymakers and Government Agencies at
a National and International Level with prime intent of ensuring participatory protection of India’s Natural
Heritage. Holds a profound interest and commitment towards diverse conservation issues and has
developed expertise in conceptualizing and designing of projects, capacity building, strategizing, team
building and networking to ensure long-term sustainable solutions for Wildlife Conservation.

A qualified and competent Techie who launched his Tech Career with renowned IT Companies where he
managed IT Infrastructure Design, Computer Network Design and Troubleshooting for Major Corporate
Accounts and lead Tech Teams. His move towards a Career in Wildlife Conservation 16 years ago, was
entirely a personal decision manifested upon very conscientiously, to embrace the path less explored, with
an upbeat tenacity to work and support Wildlife Conservation. It would be apt to summarize his career
profile as, “A Techie who strayed into #wildlife as religion and faith!

Jose Louies comes from the Indian State of Kerala, popularly known as God’s own Country! A self-trained
Beekeeper having inherited this great fascination and talent for #Bees and Beekeeping from his Father
and Grandfather. It is also heartening to know that he has trained both his young kids to grow and develop
as good and responsible Beekeepers in the future. His idea of introducing them to Nature and Conservation
at a young age is to help the kids evolve as nature sensitive human beings. His daughter Michelle (12
years), holds promising talent as a Beekeeper and being the proud Father, Jose Louies dotingly says his
daughter is the 4G Beek (Fourth Generation Beekeeper)!

Furthermore, Jose Louies also actively engages with Local Beekeepers in his native home state (Kerala)
to establish more Colonies for the ‘Most important living being of the Planet and Pollinator of Food Crops”.
He is currently engaged on Two Community Projects where Scientific Beekeeping for Conservation,
Community Development and Beekeeping as a Sustainable means of Livelihood is being applied.
Jose Louies was associated with Wildlife SOS – Saving India’s Wildlife as a Rescue Coordinator from
2004 to 2006 and since 2007, has been affiliated with Wildlife Trust of India as one of the Key Team
Member’s executing multifaceted Conservation Projects across India.

At Wildlife Trust of India (WTI), Jose Louies is the Chief of the Wildlife Crime Control Division (WCCD) and
a Member of WTI’s Executive Management Team, responsible for the overall functioning of the
organization. As the Chief of WCCD, Jose Louies oversees the Planning and Implementation of Projects
across the Country in association with State and Central Government Officials. His dedicated Team works
on various aspects of countering Illegal Wildlife Trade by training Law Enforcement Agency Officials,
assisting in Investigations on Organized Wildlife Crime, providing Legal Assistance in Trial Courts and also
in the Development and Implementation of Information Management Systems to monitor Wildlife Crime.
